We’re back from 2025 Pans and our #sasteam comp We’re back from 2025 Pans and our #sasteam comp crew has so much to be proud of. The journey in this art is endless. Every challenge brings a lesson, and the work never stops.

Congrats to both @heynnena and @danieltavaresbjjacademy who battled through tough brackets to earn 2nd place. Different obstacles, same relentless mindset. From pushing past setbacks to dealing with mid-match adversity, they stayed locked in and fought hard until the end.

Much respect to our very own Professor @antonjitsu, @jashawnkelly, and @guardpasser82kg for stepping into deep brackets, hungry and ready. Jashawn opened his winning match with a sharp takedown and kept relentless pressure from start to finish. Professor Anton and Luis brought nothing but heart, determination, and the same dedication they show day in and day out, taking on some of the toughest competition out there.

And props to @dashing_jimmy from @hoajiujitsu for locking down 2nd place with another impressive performance from our extended #sasfamily.

We’ll keep showing up, learning, and growing. That’s what we do. Proud of everyone who took on the challenge.

🖤 More Than Athletes: Black Leadership in Jiu J 🖤 More Than Athletes: Black Leadership in Jiu Jitsu & Self-Defense 🖤

Throughout February, we’ve celebrated Black excellence in combat sports. But jiu jitsu and self-defense aren’t just about competition. They’re about leadership, empowerment, and creating opportunities for others. Today, we recognize three Black figures who have done just that.

👊🏾 Nyjah Easton (Rollins) (@theloveequeen) – One of the first Black women to earn a BJJ black belt, Nyjah has dedicated her career to teaching, coaching, and uplifting the next generation. As an instructor, she has played a key role in making jiu jitsu more accessible for women and Black athletes, proving that representation matters just as much as skill on the mats.

👊🏾 Sijara Eubanks (@sarjncharge) – An elite grappler and MMA fighter, Sijara has proven that Black women belong at the highest levels of combat sports. She is a leader in speaking out about the challenges that women and Black athletes face in the fight world and continues to be a role model for those carving their own paths.

👊🏾 Zumbi dos Palmares – A revolutionary symbol of self-defense and resistance, Zumbi led one of the largest escaped slave communities (quilombos) in Brazil, fighting against oppression and injustice. His legacy is a reminder that self-defense is not just about personal safety—it’s about fighting for freedom and protecting your community.

Martial arts is about more than wins and losses. It’s about leadership, resilience, and lifting others up.

Who has inspired you on and off the mats? Tag them below! ⬇️
